Mr. Bengt Larsson, Owner - tell him you are a Small Elegant Hotels traveler.
When approaching Gränna You will find Amalias Hus Hotel situated right by the towns entry, and next to the thickly foliaged "Södra Parken" with it´s small waterfall and stream.

In this house the poor widow Amalia Eriksson began baking sweets called Polkagrisar as an attempt of earning a living for herself and her daughter Ida. This was in the year of 1859. Hardly would she have imagined that her sweets would be one of Sweden’s most famous souvenirs. As of today her statue can be seen right outside her former home.

The estate dates back to 18th century when it served as the southern toll-station, and has as of present reverentially been turned into a hotel with a tiled stove and three-piece suite in every room.

Whether You choose to stay in The stateroom of Count Brahe, Ida´s kitchen or why not in Amalia´s sleepingchamber, or any other room, You will feel wing-beats of history in a historical environment, that You gladly reside in – in the center of Gränna.
