The Main Street Inn has been welcoming guests for over 100 years. It was restored to its original c. 1885 Federal Farmhouse style and luster in 1998 by New York Architect and Designer Christopher E. Dubs. Original hand-hewn beams were exposed, and many original sand-forged windows were saved.
The Inn now offers 20 charming and cozy rooms with private baths, individual heating & air conditioning, direct-dial telephones, wireless Internet access and cable TV. Many have private balconies.
Large stone fireplaces in the dining room and lobby add to the atmosphere. Rooms in the Main House and Guest House are decorated to reflect the character and grace of this historic structure; many are furnished with antique furniture and appointments.
A sumptuous hot country breakfast is served every morning, and a delightful tea each afternoon. The relaxed atmosphere, comfortable rooms and inviting aromas from the kitchen seem just as they were generations ago.
Situated within the five block business district of the beautiful mountain town of Highlands, North Carolina, fine dining and elegant shopping in local specialty shops are just a short level walk outside the Inn.
