Count Kalnoky's rustic yet elegant guesthouses form an organic part of the tiny Transylvanian village of Miklosvar. The guesthouses are beautifully furnished with Transylvanian antiques and are equipped with old tile stoves, duvet beds, and modern bathrooms.
A large choice of cultural and wildlife excursions keeps the guests busy during the day until they all meet in the evening for dinner, almost as in Agatha Christie's novels. The Financial Times once described our guests as 'a band of ecclectic visitors' all finding together from all over the world in this tiny village lost in Transylvania. Winter is most wonderful, when our horse-drawn sleighs become a means of transport and guests discover tracks of bears, wolves and lynx in the hills above the village.
The guesthouses are a self-sustaining venture to fund our efforts to restore cultural heritage and preserve wildlife. We have a total of 10 rooms in 4 houses situated in spacious gardens in the village. This keeps the numbers of visitors limited to have no impact on village life. Guests meet in the main house in the drawing room and the wine cellar for candle-lit dinners in front of the fireplace.
